The Perfect Blogging Computer, my £10 iMac – Episode 1

‘I slowly creep through the dark, parting the cobwebs before me, suddenly ahead a halo of white light, bathing in the glow before me, I slowly caress the surface so smooth as to almost feel of nothing, the words then escape my lips “My Preciousssss” ‘ I have always been one for using old tech normally a long time after people deem it ‘obsolete’, some of this is necessity because I do not have the budget for new shiny things, but its also because I love being able to utilise…

Coffee

I like coffee, not a shock for those who know me. I grew up with coffee, one of my earliest memories of coffee is my mum when she bought an electric Percolator as a way to make coffee. At that time in the U.K most people thought coffee was just the instant stuff you bought in a Jar. You could tell how bad the U.K’s coffee tastes were when Mellow Birds was popular brand. Mellow Birds Ad I remember the sounds that percolator used to make along with the smell.…

Halloween Recomendations

It’s that most spooky time of year again, both myself and my Wife are not a fan of this Holiday. I’m not going to sit here and go on about the Americanisation of the Day or that Apple bobbing has been superseded by trick or treating. I’m just not a fan and I try to ignore it. It is however a time when we use it as an excuse to watch some Horror films. When I was thinking about this post I knew I was going to use the statement…

My Favourite Art Supplies

The equipment we use to create art is very subjective. It depends on many things from our preferred subject matter, cost and even to the side of the bed we get out of. I thought though I would create this post as a record of what I’m using at the time. It will be updated periodically with the newest updates at the top of the page. If I am no longer using a product I will leave the text but use a strikethrough. I am likely at points to do…

Comicslog – October 2019

‘An occasional column where I update and spotlight some comics that are on my reading list present.’ As with most comics fans I have a backlog of titles to read. I’m quite selective on what I buy for a couple of reasons, obviously budget makes an impact but also because I want to be able to read what I have. I do not see the point of collecting titles if I can never get around to reading them, comics are there to be read. Blade Runner 2019, Written by Michael…

40 years in the Making

Sometimes in life you can pinpoint the moment that a life-long interest and love started. This is mine ……… Set the way-back machine to 1978 and Picture a glorious sunny day on the south coast of England. My Dad at the time was in the Army (Shropshire light Infantry for those interested), on this lovely Sunny day whilst on leave he wanted to spend some time with his youngest son in the sunshine. The 9-year-old me had other ideas though, I wanted to go to the Pictures I wanted to…

Why are U.S Blu-ray case’s thinner, or why are European Blu-ray case’s thicker?

As a collector I have some U.S Blu-rays, specifically the Book of Eli, Casino Royale (the Daniel Craig one not David Niven) and the Upside which was annoyingly not available in the U.K on bluray so I ended up managing to source one from Canada. I would like to replace these, not because they are region locked, as I have a multi-region player, but because the spines are thinner. My sense of conformity is challenged so to have thin cases mixed in with the thicker ones is just wrong. It…
